Baby Bridesmaids – 2-hour old baby is bridesmaid at her parent’s wedding

Little Alisha Black could be Britain's youngest ever baby bridesmaid, watching her parents tie the knot just 2 hours after she made her appearance into this world!

Alisha was born two weeks late at Calderdale Royal Hospital at 1.50pm on Monday before joining her parents for their wedding ceremony in Halifax at 4pm. Bride to be Siobhan went into labour during the early hours of her wedding day but as she told the Yorkshire Post, “I thought there'd be plenty of time” to give birth before the ceremony. In the end though “it was a bit of a tight squeeze!”

"We knew we were cutting it a bit fine but in the end it was just the double happiest day of my life," she explained.

And groom to be, Robert Black couldn't even be at the birth of his first child as he was left holding the fort, making emergency plans for the wedding. As an Army driver on two weeks leave from his tour of duty in Afghanistan, he hadn't had time to complete the necessary legal process to get permission to marry. Luckily for him, his bride to be and new daughter though, Wigan and Leigh Register office made a special exception and completed the paperwork ahead of time. Robert said the day was “exhausting but worth it.”

The superintendant registrar, John Jackson who married the young couple at Calderdale Council's Somerset House later said “It's the first time in my 35-year career that anything like this has happened. I think we can safely say that Alisha is the youngest guest we've ever had.”
