Credit Crunch Wedding Style - Budget Weddings

Published on 10 September 2008

With couples feeling the pinch with the credit crunch in full swing and the average wedding now costing around £11,000, it certainly isn't a match made in heaven. But one bride in Stockton found the ultimate bargain when she was planning her dream wedding on a budget - the perfect wedding dress for the princely sum of 5p. According to article in The Telegraph, Mrs Saint was surprised to win the antique white lace and silk dress on Ebay at such a low bid. Even with postage costs, it only cost her £40.05!  In fact the entire wedding day only cost £3500. Another couple in North Devon scoured the bargain rails of charity shops and Ebay for all their wedding accessories and managed to tie the knot for the extortionate amount of £480.

Now scouring charity rails may be just that step too far for you, and do you really want to risk your big day by investing in a wedding dress when you have no guarantee over the quality and no help with the fit, but how can you still have the perfect look, without saddling yourselves with years of debt to pay for it? Read on for some hints and tips on how to tie the knot on a budget without compromising on your dream day.
