Ah, romance! What could be more delightful and romantic than a spring wedding? Symbolic of new starts, new hopes and the year's rebirth, spring, and more particularly Easter time, is an ideal time to wed. Even if the weather's uncertain, an Easter wedding can and should be beautiful.

 

Rather than Easter eggs with their childish connotations, take flowers as your theme. The flowers of spring are delicate, fresh and fragrant, subtle rather than gaudy. How about a dress of misty bluebell blue, or hyacinth mauve? Can you picture your bridesmaids in daffodil yellow or crocus gold? Or you could choose pale green to echo the freshness of the season. The scent of Easter lilies would be a marvellous addition.

 

Your groom should look equally informal and natural - although he'll probably draw the line at flowers in his hair! A light linen suit or pastel shirt and pale trousers would look most attractive - no top hats, please.

 

But remember that spring winds can blow chill, and the rain can fall; so ward off the cold with pretty vintage cardigans, or elegant boleros (see our great range of bridesmaid boleros at Henry Kaye), for the ladies, and cuddly scarves for the gents.

 

You can indulge yourself in decorating your venue, indoors or out. Why not hang swags of yellow fabric decorated with paper flowers? Or put up some white terllises and adorn them with fresh flowers. You're aiming for a spring idyll here. If you're getting married in a church, you could time your wedding to make the most of the existing Easter decorations.

 

As for food, celebrate the season with spring baby vegetables, delicate new potatoes, fresh salads and fruit, chicken and lamb. And let the wine flow to toast your new life!
