Unfortunately Glastonbury isn't a licenced wedding venue - yet! So you're not able to share your wedding day with hundreds of thousands of festival goers but that doesn't mean you can't take inspiration for your wedding celebration.
Setting the tone
Set the date of the wedding by getting some posters printed advertising the details of your day, obviously sent to strategic guests so it doesn't become a free for all. All good festivals allow camping so arrange for a campsite near your wedding to accomodate your guests. Granny won't like a sleeping bag? Then see if there's 'glamping' nearby where you can get the outside feel with the comforts of home.
The festival celebration
Once you've had your marriage ceremony you can take the festival theme to any length. Want to go the whole hog? Issue guests with wristbands, set up screens either side of your wedding band, cater by having a variety of 'stands' for your guests to choose what to eat. Serve food in polysterence or paper plates, and the beer in plastic cups, and all you will need is mud for the true festival feel. If this sounds too much, you can always pay a tongue in cheek reference to hedonistic weekends in a far flung field without alientating the in-laws. If your reception is in a traditonal hotel you can design your seating plan so it reads like the listing of a variety of stages, plant children wellington boots with flowers for your table centre piece and create chill out areas with bays of hay and fairy lights (ideally around an open fire).
The wedding festival outfit
Every festival bride should sport suitable wedding wellington boots. Leave your hair tousled for a more informal look and accessorise with fun bangles and if the weather is cold why not have a fun bridal scarf - there's bound to be a talented relative who would be willing to take up the challenge. Don't forget umbrellas, the affordable chauffeur umbrella means two or three of the bridal party can shelter for some fun photographs.
Festival wedding thankyous
Paparrazi style photos taken during the reception of your guests could be used as a personalised thank you note. You could even do a press style write up of your day to bring the theme to a natural end. However you decide to celebrate don't forget Henry Kaye affordable wedding accessories for a stress free way to shop for your wedding.
