For a Catholic girl of seven or eight, her First Holy Communion is an important milestone in the process of growing up. For most Catholic children, it is a momentous occasion that is celebrated by all their family. In fact, it could be seen as her 'wedding' to her faith. But what does a girl wear for her First Holy Communion?
Well, most girls taking their First Holy Communion will have much in common with the traditional bride when it comes to dress. The mood at a First Holy Communion is solemn and formal and the outfits reflect this. White is the colour of the day and a white First Holy Communion dress, often with a veil, white Holy Communion shoes and white gloves is the usual attire on such occasion.
Although some parents do like to go for the whole "bride of Christ" look, for most girls, something like our Ballerina Holy Communion dress or Evie Holy Communion dress is perfect. Simple enough to reflect the sobriety of the occasion but still pretty enough that she feels like a princess on what is, after all, a special day. A pair of white Holy Communion shoes, white tights and a white bolero to keep young arms warm and the outfit complete.
