Gary Lineker married his love Danielle Bux in a wedding of two halves in Italy this week. The couple chose to tie the knot in a secret ceremony last Tuesday on the stunning Italian Almafi coast and then followed it up with a final whistle blessing the following day where in true Footballers Wives style, they went for all out glamour.
The intimate wedding ceremony took place in the town hall in Ravello on the Almafi Coast. Costing a mere £400 and with only two witnesses present, the wedding was nothing like what we would normally expect for the union of an ex-England footballer and model. However not to be outdone in the stakes of wedding glamour, the £250,000 blessing on Wednesday was a true footballers wedding with 100 guests flown in to help the happy couple celebrate.
Taking place at the spot where Gary went down on bended knee a year ago to ask for Danielle's hand in marriage, the blessing was a truly romantic affair. Danielle walked down a petal strewn aisle in the gardens of the Hotel Caruso to the overtures Ave Maria. She was given away by her half brother and her 7-year-old daughter was a flower girl.
Guests then joined the new Mr and Mrs Lineker in a celebratory boat trip around the coastline before sitting down to a six course dinner costing £20,000 (more than the average UK bride spends on her entire big day) with their guests. One onlooker told The Sun that it was absolutely perfect - “there were speeches, bouquets of pink roses, the setting was unbelievable.”
Not to be outdone by the likes of Coleen Rooney who tied the knot with hubby Wayne last year in a five day extravagance in the country of love and romance, Danielle chose to continue the trend of having more than one wedding dress for the event. But unlike her counterparts, Danielle took a cross at the trend of the big fairy tale wedding dress and went for something more simple and elegant. For the official blessing, Danielle wore a chic white dress with a silver grey lace overlay. For the reception, the model bride changed into a simple white silk number designed by Suzanne Neville. In her hair, she wore a simple chiffon veil.
