The festive season is always a time for romance, new resolutions and new beginnings but for Robbie Williams and Russell Brand, two of our most eligible batchelors (or in Russell's case, our lovable ladies man!), they really have decided to turn over a new leaf for the start of Tennies. Long gone are days of partying hard and strings of women for our two lovable batchelors as they both get engaged over the festive period.

Robbie had our hopes up for the sound of wedding bells when he asked long-term girlfriend Ayda Field to marry him live on air on an Australian radio show back in November but he turned out to be just pulling our legs. However, Ayda has been since been spotted sporting a huge sparkler on her ring finger after the festive period! According to news reports, Robbie popped the question for real last Tuesday. Evidently, he had been waiting for New Year's Eve but the excitement got the best of him and he told Ayda that “She's the One” at home on Tuesday night.  We are now hoping for a big summer wedding when Robbie will be asking Ayda to let him entertain her!

As for Russell Brand, he and his girlfriend Katy Perry got engaged over New Year while celebrating the start of the new decade in India. Russell and Katy first got together back in September of last year and since then the celebrity duo have been totally loved up. In the spirit of true romance, Russell planned the moment he asked Katy to marry him right down to the last detail. According to the reports in The Sun, earlier in the day, he had treated Katy to a special traditional outfit for her to wear that evening. He then arranged a private dinner in the grounds of the hotel surrounded by candlelight and flowers. At midnight, they enjoyed a fireworks display whilst sitting on an elephant and then as the new decade was born, Russell handed Katy a bouquet of flowers in which the sparkler was hidden! Now that is what we call a proposal and a half!
