Want to be a radiant blushing bride? Unfortunately, such is the strain of knowing you'll be centre stage, closely watched by your guests all day and into the evening, you might find that your skin reflects your stress levels and lets you down with spots and breakouts on the day. To avoid such a catastrophe, prepare your canvas well by starting to look after it months before the wedding day dawns.

Good skin starts from within, so eat well and go easy on sugars, fats, alcohol and processed food. Especially, don't smoke - this is death to a good complexion, as it affects blood supplies, causes broken veins and a grey tone, and will lead to premature wrinkling. Drink lots of water, too, to flush out toxins and keep skin hydrated.
You know what's next - the old mantra, cleanse, tone, moisturise. If you're in your twenties, don't overload the skin with heavy creams - you don't need them. Keep it light with oils and serums. A foaming facial wash is less drying than soap at any age, and will keep skin fresh. Ladies in their thirties and over need a richer moisturiser and a night cream too. A regular facial in the months leading up to the wedding will ensure that skin gets exfoliated and brightened, but don't have one the week before, in case of skin reactions.
Now that you've prepared your base, you can decorate it - but not with a heavy hand. On the day itself, cleanse and moisturise as normal, then apply primer to give an even base. Apply foundation with a sponge, more than usual so that you don't look pallid in the photographs, but don't cake it on either. If you blush a lot and get red-faced in times of stress, a green-based concealer will tone down those ruddy areas. A dusting of powder with a big soft brush, a touch of blusher on the apples of your cheeks, and you're ready for your close-up!
