With more women giving birth outside marriage these days than in it, you might think there wouldn't be much call for a shop specialising in wedding wear for pregnant brides. But you'd be wrong. Designers and retailers are now starting to specialise in catering for brides with bumps. And no wonder - if you just buy off-the-peg, you'll look shapeless and uncomfortable. Your body simply won't fit the usual dress cut, with all that extra bulk in front and a blossoming cleavage. You probably won't want to get your legs out, either, while you feel like an up-ended mushroom.
Best to choose a dress designed to accommodate your pregnant condition - lots of high-end designers are now creating maternity wedding dresses. To fit your bump, your dress should be cut longer in front to allow for any riding up, and should be fitted neatly at the back to give a pretty, not shapeless, silhouette.
If you don't want a specialist maternity bridal dress than go for an Empire line - ie, with the waistline migrating to just under the bust - it will draw the eye away from your middle and focus attention on your blossoming decolletage. Go for a long, sweeping skirt and pretty sleeves, and you'll be beautiful without being self-conscious. Add some stunning wedding shoes, a beautiful wedding bags and some discrete wedding jewellery and the look will be complete!
