Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…. Whether you are a traditional girl who can't get married without making all the t's are crossed and all the I's are dotted or you are more laidback about walking down the aisle, you need to make sure that you have that something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

Incorporating the old traditions into your wedding day is a lovely way of making your day extra special as well as celebrating the lifelong commitment that you are entering into with your beloved. Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue dates back to the Victorian times. The something old refers to something that relates to your family and your life before marriage. Perhaps you could raid your Grandma's jewellery box for a nice piece of jewellery that you can wear on your big day or does your big sister have anything you can half inch for the day.

Something new represents good health, fortune and success in your new life as married woman. Most bride's use their wedding dress to fulfill this part of the old adage but of your dress is vintage, then any part of your wedding trousseau which is new will suffice. Something borrowed is something which has already been worn by a happy bride on her wedding day. Perhaps your best friend has already entered into the world of holy matrimony and can lend you a bracelet or her tiara?

As for something blue, this dates back to the bible when blue was thought to represent fidelity and purity. Back in biblical times, this meant wearing blue clothing but more modern brides usually plump for wearing a cheeky blue or blue trimmed bridal garter under their dress.

Now while we can't help with the something old and something borrowed, here at Henry Kaye, we have got the something blue covered. Our range of bridal garters are perennially popular and we have traditional designs as well as more modern styles which are sure to become timeless.

The horseshoe bridal garter is a timeless design that is gives just a hint of blue and just to make sure that you have got all those ‘lucky' bases covered, it has a little silver horseshoe! The organza flower bridal garter is a pretty little lace number with a shimmering organza flower and satin blue ribbon.  Or if you are looking for something a little more modern for your something blue, then the chiffon bridal garter and fluted lace bridal garter are the perfect wedding accessory.
