So Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin have tied the knot in the society wedding of the year, rumoured to have cost £5million!!. After months of speculation, it finally took place in secret on the Italian Riviera in torrential rain. (Not even a footballer's wife can guarantee the weather!) The couple took their vows in a small, romantic civil ceremony before celebrating in style with an intimate religious blessing at the beautiful Italian Villa Cevara abbey in front of 60 of their closest family and friends, followed by the party to end all parties - a 24 hour celebration involving a spectacular firework display, Westlife and allegedly lots of karaoke!!
For the civil ceremony, Coleen looked stunning in a strapless prom style wedding dress with embroidered bodice and layered ankle length chiffon skirt. For the blessing and reception, she changed into a breath-taking strapless wedding gown with a silk organza bodice and huge full skirt made of pleated silk organza fans. Her hair was wound into an elegant bun with a short veil floating own her back and a pair of skyscraper Christian Louboutin sandals finished the look!
But how can you emulate Mr and Mrs Rooney's wedding style into your own nuptials without spending millions? Well, keeping it neutral whilst still being glamorous is the key. White was the colour of the day with butterflies and bows being the theme throughout. We do a gorgeous range of accessories in white with bows and butterflies in abundance should you require!
As for the wedding outfits, you can guarantee that the high street will be full of copies of The Dress within weeks but if you don't want to look too much like a WAG, then a simple satin bodice with a full skirt is the way to go. As for shoes, if Christian Louboutin's are a little beyond your means, then our Rebecca bridal shoes would be just perfect, stunning and sophisticated but without the designer price tag!! As for the bridesmaids, Coleen's adult bridesmaids wore short white chiffon numbers with towering heels. Take a trip to Coast or Monsoon for inspiration. The younger girls wore mini versions of The Dress which might be too much for you. Why not take a look at our Belle bridesmaid dress or Gwendoline bridesmaid dresses instead? The fitted bodices and full skirts in a stunning white would complement your fairy tale gown beautifully. Finish the outfits with a pair of ballet wedding slippers in white for that perfect bridesmaid look.
