If your dog is part of the family and you really want the pooch to be part of your wedding too, then you can legally arrange this. You just need to obtain permission from the owner of the building where your wedding will be held, and talk to the registrar or the vicar/priest/rabbi who'll be officiating at the ceremony. Once your pet gets the go-ahead, take it along to wedding rehearsals, so that it gets the chance to sniff out the venue. If loud music is to be played, let your pet hear it at home so that no howling takes place at the wrong moment. If it's thoroughly used to the place, the sounds and the smells, you should have a peaceful day.
On the actual day, elect a pet-friendly guest to take charge of your pooch. And make sure that the venue's owners are well-disposed towards pets too - someone with pets themselves will usually look kindly upon animal friends. Check that your animal has a clearly marked ID collar, and check the venue for access to busy roads. And if your pet doesn't enjoy being fussed over by lots of strangers, warn your guests in advance to refrain from patting - especially children. The last thing you want is an injured and affronted guest.
Have your pet taken home before the disco starts up, or the fireworks light up. Even the most well-trained animal will take fright in these circumstances. Choose a reliable dogsitter to take over once the festivities begin, and to care for your pet until you return from honeymoon. That way, all your guests - two-legged and four-legged - will be happy.
