Got a date for the wedding? Send it out to everyone on your guest list. It's sensible to do this as soon as you can, so that people don't commit themselves elsewhere. If it's to be a religious ceremony, make the arrangements now - you've got a bit of leeway if you're booking a register office.
Now's the time to start getting your wedding theme together. Read magazines, browse through catalogues, look at pictures, surf the net. Take a look at Henry Kaye for some terrific ideas for wedding clothes and accessories. Formal and traditional, modern and minimalist, retro, fairytale, low-key? It's ideas time.
If you're going formal, enlist your best man, ushers, bridesmaids and so on now, and talk them through what they'll be doing on the day. The matron of honour should be a trusted friend, as she'll be making sure it all runs smoothly, from the hen night to getting you dressed and holding your bouquet during the service. The best man will be in charge of arranging the stag night, getting the groom to the church on time, look after the rings, direct guests at the reception and make a best man's speech. The ushers will show guests to their seats, look after the bride's mother and the groom's parents, and help the best man.
Get your photographer booked, and brief him or her on the style of pictures you want - posed and formal, or spontaneous and of the moment. Or are you going for a video? Organise it now.
Choose your suppliers - florists, caterers, DJ/band and so on. It's great of someone comes warmly recommended, otherwise shop around and don't be afraid to haggle a bit! Get the quotes in writing to avoid confusion.
Very importantly, now's a good time to choose your dress! Time to fulfil your dreams, but why not take your mum or a close friend along to the try-outs - you might value a second opinion. That crinoline you fancied might not quite cut it after all. And remember, you have to wear it all day, so choose something you can move easily in.
