Wedding fashion for the tall bride - Uma Thurman style

Published on 22 July 2008

Hollywood actress Uma Thurman has announced her engagement to financier Arpad Busson after a year long relationship. Set to be the celebrity couple of the year, the star of the Kill Bill movies and Pulp Fiction and the London based millionaire first got together last summer at a private dinner in Milan. Since then there has been a whirlwind romance resulting in an eight plus carat diamond engagement ring. Rather than shouting their news from the roof tops though, the celebrity couple took a much more old-fashioned route of announcing their engagement - by placing a discrete advert in the personal announcements of The Times newspaper!

Of course though now all the speculation will now start as to how, when and where they will tie the knot and what will Uma wear to walk down the aisle. Not being a first time wedding for either of them, will be a quiet intimate affair or something much more elaborate? And as for the dress, Uma seems for some reason have some doubts about her appearance and her statuesque height. Why we don't know as she's totally gorgeous but, just to help her and all you other tall brides, we have put together some hints and tips to help you make the most of your height on your big day!

Tiffany Bridal Shoes                        Tara Wedding Boot                         Nicole Bridal Shoes

Now if you are lucky to be tall, then what better time to make the most of your height on your wedding day when you can really make an entrance that will blow the man of your dreams (and all your guests) away. A gorgeous flowing number would look gorgeous or why not go for a stunning full-skirted fairy tale gown. With your height you could certainly carry it off! A long veil flowing down your back would finish the look perfectly or if you really want to be dramatic, what about wearing a stunning hair fascinator in your hair. As for shoes, then make the most of it and wear those skyscraper heels. When else can you make such a statement? Something like the Tiffany bridal shoes with their 9cm heels and sexy ankle straps would be perfect. Or if you're getting married in the winter, the knee high Tara wedding boot would set those long slender limbs off to perfection.

Victorian Flat Wedding Boot         Flat Sandal Wedding Shoes         Opera Wedding Shoes

What though, if like Uma, you're a little self conscious about your height or perhaps your man is more of Tom Cruise proportions and you would rather look into his eyes to pledge your love instead of towering over him?! You could still go for that long flowing dress or the full fairy tale number, both of which would look totally stunning. And with your height, you can carry off that floor sweeping veil beautifully. But when it comes to the wedding shoes, instead of choosing a skyscraper heel, go for a shoe with a more subtle heel. Something like the Nicole bridal shoe or Angie bridal shoes gives a little height or for a winter wedding, the Clara boot with laces to the knee or the Victorian flat wedding boot would get your man hot under the collar without you towering over him. Or you could go for totally flat wedding shoes, the flat sandal wedding shoes are delicate yet still stunning. And the Opera wedding shoes or the traditional ballet wedding slipper are timeless styles that will look gorgeous with any dress. Plus, you then won't be worried about tripping and stumbling down the aisle, especially if being already tall, you normally don't do heels. After all, you need feel confident and comfortable on your big day as well as looking totally gorgeous.

So now we just have to wait and see what the wedding of the year is like and what the dress is like. Let's just hope that she has more luck in this wedding dress, than the one she wore in Kill Bill!!
