Weddings with a Difference

We have had frogs getting married in India, the Shrek wedding, men marrying a pillow and Nintendo characters but the wedding that really has to be the cat's whiskers, is the man in Germany who married his cat. According to reports in the Bild newspaper, the happy couple tied the knot after 10 happy years together.

Because marrying a cat isn't actually legal, stunned registrars refused to take the ceremony. Instead actress Christin-Maria Lohri officiated over proceedings. She told the newspaper that at first she thought it was a joke but she quickly came to see how the groom wanted to achieve his heart's desire. She also said that she could see how close the pair were.

The “romance” began 10 years ago when Mr Mitzscherlich bought the cat who was aged 5 at the time. Evidently it was love at first meow! For the last decade, the couple have shared the same bed every night and when Mr Mitzscherlich found out recently that his beloved Cecilia was coming to the end of her nine lives, he decided that the only right thing to do was tie the knot so that she could die a “happily married” cat! The bride even donned white for the biggest day of her nine lives.
